Hello everyone!
Welcome back to a new post! I hope you had a great weekend. It’s been quite a while since I posted something. I’ve been quite busy with school and other things, so I didn’t really have time to work on anything. However, I’m happy that I created something again!
Recently, in my free time, I’ve been playing a lot of ‘Among Us’ with friends. You might have heard of the game, as it really took everyone by storm. If you haven’t though, let me tell you a bit about it.
Among Us was released in 2018. In the game, you and a crew are ‘stranded’ somewhere (on a spaceship, an abandoned city or some sort of facility). You and the crew have to complete tasks to escape the situation. However, just finishing tasks would be too easy. This is where the ‘imposters’ come into play. Some of your crewmates aren’t actually crewmates. These players want to sabotage the mission. To do this, they can try to eliminate players (without being caught). I’ll tell you more about it in a bit, but let’s get into some drawing first.
As I said, it has been quite a while since I drew something. Because of this, I chose to draw something a bit easier. The first, easy sketch can be seen below.

In this image, you can see an imposter snapping the neck of a crewmate. Because, as I said, imposters have to try to eliminate players. Imposters win by either eliminating enough crewmates or sabotaging something right (like shutting down the oxygen system). Crewmates win when they finish all of the tasks or catch the imposters. Every time a body is found, or a meeting is called, players get the chance to vote on a player to eliminate. If one player gets the majority of the votes, he gets eliminated. Because of this, there’s a lot of strategies when playing. Whether you’re imposter or crewmate, you have a big task.
One of the interesting things about this game is that you are only allowed to talk during meetings. Also, dead people can not talk. This is really fun, as you’re all trying to figure out who the impostor is (except for the impostors of course). So you talk about what tasks you’ve done, where you have been, who you saw, etcetera.
Every time a player gets eliminated, you get an animation. One of these animations, I tried to draw. These animations have some sort of ‘red wave’ in the background. I also tried drawing this. Also, I gave the characters some colour. My progress can be seen below.
I chose to draw most of this using my ‘sharpies’. A sharpie is a kind of permanent marker with a fine point. Using sharpies really gives everything an even colour. As you might know, I have used alcohol markers quite a lot in the past. Alcohol markers have way less of an even colour when you don’t apply the same amount of ink in different places. With permanent markers, this is much easier. For the vizor of the characters, I used water markers. Water markers are kind of like alcohol markers but blend a little bit less. The main reason I used these markers is that the colours of these markers were the most like I wanted it.
I almost forgot! Let’s talk about the title of the post. The title is ‘Blue Looking Kinda Sus’. As I said before, you have the chance to vote people off in the game. Every player has a different colour character. One is red, one is blue, one is purple, well, you get the idea. When playing online, you might not know every player in your game. When someone wants to say someone is suspicious, they often say ‘[colour] looking kinda sus’. And well, that’s the case, as the blue player is eliminating the yellow player.
To finish the drawing, I just had to draw in some more background. The part in between the red ‘waves’ is supposed to be pink/orange. I found a colour which I really liked to do this. The process was quite tedious, as the point of the sharpie was so small. Also, I was worried that the ink would run out. This didn’t happen luckily. The final result can be seen below!

So there it is! As I said, the drawing isn’t that advanced. Nevertheless, I really like how it turned out. Also, I think that this drawing will always remind me of the time we live in now, which I think is nice. Art is more than just something nice to look at. Many times, there’s a story behind it. This is certainly the case for my art! Looking at my drawings, almost all of them yield a certain memory.
Let me know what you think about it in the comments, I’d love to hear from you. But that’s all for today, I’ll talk to you next time! Stay happy, stay creative.
