Cheeky Ralts

Read Time:2 Minute, 39 Second

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to a new post! If you read the post about my Elekid drawing, you might remember that I said that the next drawing would also be a Pokémon drawing. Well, here it is! This time, I tried recreating yet another one of my favourite Pokémon; Ralts. For this drawing, I used a pencil, as well as a fine liner and alcohol markers.

I started out by looking for some reference, and making a rough sketch. With the pencil, I drew all of the lines (including the ones you wouldn’t see later). You can, for instance, see this in his head. There’s a line behind one of the horns(?) on his head. You won’t see this in a later stage in the drawing, but it helped me get the head continuous. The sketch can be seen below (on the left).

Then I took a look at which of the lines should be visible. These lines, I overlined with my fine liner. Now you can see a clear difference in depth between different parts of the drawing. The result of this can be seen above (on the right). After this, I erased the leftover pencil lines.

Now there was only one thing left to do; colour. As you might know, Ralts’ body is white. And I thought just a big white space would be boring. Because of this, I decided to try and get some shadow on Ralts’ body (to make it more interesting). I did this with a light grey.

Then I picked out two different shades of green. I wanted to make a grading on his head. The bottom of his head would be darker, and the top of his head would be lighter, as the light would hit him from the top. Since his head is round, it wouldn’t suddenly change colour, but change gradually. As you might know, alcohol markers can do this very well, as they blend together. The colour-grading turned out pretty nicely.

Last of all, I coloured in his ‘horns’ and mouth. For the horns, I made a part darker. This way, this part looked like it was in the shadow a bit. Also, the top of the horns I made lighter, to get a feeling they were in the light. The mouth just got an even red colour. This was alright, as Ralts’ mouth was pretty small.

Now the Ralts was done! And I must say, I think it turned out pretty nicely! The result can be seen below.

I hope you liked the drawing and reading the post! Let me know what you think :). Also, consider subscribing to my blog if you like it. See you soon!
