Hello everyone!
Welcome back to a new post! If you are into games and Pokémon, you might know that quite recently two new Pokémon games were released; Sword and Shield. Of course, I have a favourite Pokémon in these games; Grookey. Grookey is a really cute green monkey-like Pokémon. So let’s get into the drawing!
Of course, I started out by sketching him. Normally, I look for some reference, but in this case, I actually had some reference of my own. I actually have a Grookey plush, so I put it down and started drawing. I really love just sketching and erasing around while listening to some music. This time, I listened to the artist ‘Illenium’, which I really like. You should really listen to it sometime! Also, while you’re at it, make sure you check out my first single ‘Thank You’ :). First I sketched Grookey with my pencil, after which I lined it with my fine liner. The result can be seen below.
As you can see, his eyes look kind of goofy, so I instantly coloured them in with black to see how they will look. Also, I lined the outside lines with a Sharpie, to make the Grookey pop out more. The result can be seen below!

Now, of course, we need to give the guy some colour. For this, I used my alcohol markers. I really wanted to accent the shadow spots on Grookey, so I picked various shades of green (since Grookey is mainly green). First of all, I put a base layer of green. Then I added a darker green to the spots I wanted to be darker. Now I already got a nice feel of shadow.
After this, I did the same for the nose and feet (but with orange instead of green). Now I turned to his ears and branch. For both of these, I yet again applied a base layer of a light brown. After this, I took a dark shade of grey and added it to the shadow spots on his branch and ears. Finally, I did the same for his eye region with yellow and green.
I also wanted Grookey to stand on something, so I added a blue circle below him. The result of all of this can be seen below.

Finally, I added some ground shadow to Grookey. At this point, I noticed that I forgot something; Grookey’s tail! So after adding his tail, I started on the shadow. For the shadow, I took a grey marker. I put the lights in my room all the way up and looked where the shadows of the plush landed. I used this as my reference.
After this I felt like I was done! The final result can be seen below.

So, there’s the final result! I hope you like it. let me know what you think about it :).
Also, you can see every tool I used for this drawing below!

See you later!
